An Energy-Focused Analysis of Extreme Humid Heat in the Southeast United States

August 2024-December 2025, I worked in investigating the connection between extreme humid heat events and marine heat waves in the Southeast United States. Lead by my advisor, Dr. Shawn M. Milrad, I used the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) to identify the 99th percentile of extreme humid heat events. Using ERA5 reanalysis data, I plotted and identified synoptic characteristics associated with the 99th percentile events, and investigated the energy response humans have to these extreme events.

Going Forward...

I love to code and program (if you couldn't tell by my website!), so I plan to incoorporate this into my future work! This website is a work in progress, but I want to maintain it, acting as a teaching portfolio for future employers/parents! What better way to get to know me??
I also hope to become certified to teach computer science, so I could possibly lead an introductory programming course! tbd!
